International Migration and Global Social Change (IMGSC)
Overview
Our century is marked by accelerated social changes, climate change, and increasing human mobility. The internationally recognized Master’s degree program International Migration and Global Social Change combines an interdisciplinary perspective—drawing from sociology, anthropology, human geography, and law—to train specialists with a comprehensive, integrative, and critical understanding of the global circulation of ideas, people, power, and capital.
Our Master’s program features an international team of professors with expertise in various world regions (Eastern Europe, Maghreb, South-Asia) and an interactive curriculum that involves critical perspectives and academic learning with field visits, hands-on training, and practical experience within different organizations as UNHCR, OIM and communities.
Careers
The interdisciplinary Master’s degree program International Migration and Global Social Change aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed for careers in international organizations, European institutions, governments, public administration, local non-governmental organizations, and academia.
The primary goal of this program aligns with the mission of West University of Timișoara to foster a strong academic community and a participatory environment that promotes and shares knowledge and competencies that value diversity and multilingual interactions. The program prepares students to actively contribute to public policy, support social inclusion, and develop innovative solutions to challenges related to climate change, displacement, conflicts, and global demographic changes.
